Short answer: The Z71 is a new trim on the refreshed 2027 Trailblazer: standard AWD, off-road suspension tuning, a front steel skid plate, sport-terrain tires, dual exhaust and an orange-accented interior, from $30,400 per Chevrolet. It replaces the ACTIV, which continues only on the 2027 Limited.

Where a Z71 makes sense up north
- Gravel and two-tracks: cabin roads, logging roads and the field lane to deer camp.
- Winter: AWD and sport-terrain tires on unplowed side roads. Add dedicated winter tires for ice.
- Light towing: up to 1,000 lb with the right hitch — a small utility or single-sled trailer. See Specs, cargo and towing.
Is it a real off-roader?
It's light-duty. AWD, tires, tuning and a skid plate help on gravel, snow and boat launches; it isn't a rock crawler, and Chevrolet hasn't published ground clearance for the Z71 as of October 31, 2026.
