Short answer: The current Colorado is crew cab with a 5-foot bed only. The available StowFlex tailgate’s mid-position supports 500 lb (Chevrolet). With 4WD, good tires and remote start (LT and up), it is a solid northwest Wisconsin winter truck.

What fits in a 5-foot bed

Plenty of weekend gear, a deer stand, firewood, or a small ATV with the tailgate down — measure first. Snowmobiles almost always ride on a trailer. For a 4x8 sheet of plywood you will be at an angle with the tailgate down. If you need a long bed, look at the Silverado 1500.

StowFlex tailgate and bed options

Chevrolet offers an available StowFlex tailgate with storage and a mid-position that supports up to 500 lb, an EZ Lift and Lower tailgate on LT, and an available spray-in bedliner. Accessories: ask our parts team. Packages: Colorado packages explained.

Garage and parking fit

A midsize crew cab fits most standard attached garages that a full-size crew cab will not; Chevrolet.com lists height at 78.8–82.7 in depending on trim (lifted ZR2 is tallest). Measure your door opening and depth before you buy a lifted trim.

Winter: 4WD, drive modes and features

  • 4WD: available on WT and LT; Trail Boss, Z71 and ZR2 come 4WD with a 2-speed transfer case.
  • Remote start: LT and up with Keyless Open & Start.
  • Tires: all-season on WT/LT; all-terrains on Trail Boss/Z71 — a dedicated winter set still stops best on ice.
  • Salt: rinse the underside and skid plates through winter.
  • Deer: dusk Oct–Dec is peak risk — see deer crash help.
