The short answer
NHTSA's recall database lists 7 distinct safety-recall campaigns that cover at least one 2017–2020 Dodge Journey model year, as of Oct. 12, 2026. 2018 has the most (6); the components named most often are Electrical, Rear camera / backover, Exterior lighting and Visibility.
A recall count is not a reliability score. One campaign can cover a few hundred vehicles or more than a million, some campaigns are software updates, and recall repairs are free at a franchised dealer of that brand. For a used vehicle, the question that matters is whether that VIN's recalls have been completed: check it on NHTSA's free VIN lookup before you buy.

The campaigns that cover the most model years
| NHTSA campaign | Component | Model years covered (2017–2020) | What NHTSA says could happen |
|---|---|---|---|
| 18V332000 | Electrical | 2017–2018 | If the vehicle maintains its speed or accelerates despite attempts to deactivate the cruise control, there would be an increased risk of a crash. |
| 22V723000 | Exterior lighting | 2017–2018 | A dim reflector may reduce the visibility of the vehicle to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash. |
| 25V552000 | Rear camera / backover | 2019–2020 | A rearview image that does not display properly reduces the driver's view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. |
| 18V396000 | Visibility | 2018 | If the full camera view is delayed and the driver does not check their surroundings before backing up, there may be an increased risk of a crash. |
| 18V398000 | Rear camera / backover | 2018 | A loss of image in the rearview camera while backing up can increase the risk of a crash. |
| 18V523000 | Hydraulic brakes | 2018 | A reduction of braking performance can increase the risk of a crash. |
| 18V524000 | Electrical | 2018 | A vehicle stall can increase the risk of a crash. |
