F-150 trims and equipment groups
Ford sells the 2026 and 2027 F-150 in eight series: XL, STX, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Tremor and Raptor, and each series bundles features into equipment groups like 200A, 302A or 501A. At Swant Graber Ford in Barron, XLT and Lariat are where most buyers compare.
| Series | What it is | Groups (2027) |
|---|---|---|
| XL | Work truck; vinyl or cloth 40/20/40 bench; Regular Cab 8' box available | 101A, 103A |

First digit of the group code is the series. 2026 also had STX 201A (FX4) and XLT 303A, both deleted for 2027.
Group examples from the order guides: XLT 302A adds Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0, remote start, heated front seats, a power-sliding rear window and Pro Power Onboard 400W. Lariat 502A adds Mobile Office, B&O Unleashed audio and heated second-row seats.
F-150 seating: 5 or 6 passengers
A SuperCab or SuperCrew F-150 seats six with a 40/20/40 front bench and five with 40/console/40 front seats; the bench is offered on XL and XLT, while STX, Lariat and above use console seats.
- XL: cloth 40/20/40 (vinyl available); 103A switches to console seats.
- XLT 300A/301A: cloth 40/20/40. 2026 302A: 40/20/40 included, console optional. 2027 302A: Ford's equipment-group matrix lists 40/console/40.
- BlueCruise, the PowerBoost hybrid on XLT (it requires Mobile Office) and the XLT Black Appearance packages all require console seats.
- Regular Cab seats three.

F-150 engines, horsepower and mpg

| 3.5L High Output (Raptor) | 450 | 510 | — · 14/18 |
HP and torque from Ford's 2026/2027 tech specs; mpg from Ford's 2026 order guide (EPA label). Every engine uses a 10-speed automatic.
- The 3.5L EcoBoost is standard on 157" wheelbase trucks and on King Ranch, Platinum and Tremor; 2026 Lariat had it standard, 2027 Lariat 145" gets the 3.0L.
- The 5.0L is standard on the XL 122" Regular Cab; on STX it comes only with the Lobo package (19S). For 2027 it's newly optional on King Ranch and Platinum.
- The PowerBoost is a regular full hybrid you fuel at the pump; it brings Pro Power Onboard 2.4kW, with 7.2kW (option 477) available. Ford's Job 2 update added 4x2 hybrid availability for trucks built on or after 04/06/26.
- Ford lists regular 87 octane as the minimum for the 3.0L, 5.0L, 3.5L and PowerBoost; Raptor engines call for premium.
How much can an F-150 tow?
Up to 13,500 lbs, per Ford, on a 3.5L EcoBoost SuperCrew 4x4 with the Tow/Haul Package (53T) and the Max Tow axle; the base EcoBoost V6 is rated 8,400 lbs (4x2).
| Engine | 4x2 | 4x4 |
|---|---|---|
| 3.0L EcoBoost V6 (2027) | 8,400 | 8,200 |
| 2.7L EcoBoost V6 (2026) | 8,400 | 8,200 |
| 5.0L V8 | 12,800 | 12,800 |

| 3.5L PowerBoost hybrid | 12,400 | 11,600 |
| 3.5L EcoBoost High Output (Raptor) | — | 8,200 |
Pounds, max conventional towing per Ford tech specs. Top numbers on the 5.0L, 3.5L and hybrid require SuperCrew, the Tow/Haul Package (53T) and the Max Tow axle.
- A Class IV hitch is standard on every F-150.
- Tow/Haul (53T) adds the integrated trailer brake controller and an e-locking rear axle (3.55 with the 3.5L, 3.73 with the 5.0L; 3.73 standard with the hybrid). It's standard on King Ranch and Platinum and not available with the 2.7L (2026), 3.0L (2027) or Lobo.
- Max Tow axles XL5 (3.55) and XL7 (3.73) are not available on XL, XLT 300A, or with 17", 18" painted or 22" wheels.
- XLT 302A includes Pro Trailer Backup Assist and Pro Trailer Hitch Assist with Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0.
- Check the door-jamb payload label against your camper's tongue weight, not just the tow rating.
F-150 packages and options that matter
The packages that change how an F-150 works are FX4 (off-road), Tow/Haul with Max Tow (towing), Mobile Office, Pro Power Onboard and BlueCruise; Ford's order guides don't list dollar amounts for paint or packages.
- FX4 Off-Road (55A, 4x4): e-locking rear axle, Hill Descent Control, Rock Crawl, off-road shocks, skid plates, tray-style floor liner. 2027 adds FX4 on STX 200A.
- Pro Power Onboard: 400W standard on Lariat and up and in XLT 302A; 2kW replaces 400W on King Ranch, Platinum 701A/702A, Tremor 402A and Raptor 801A/802A with Mobile Office; 2.4kW with the hybrid, 7.2kW (477) hybrid-only.
- BlueCruise: Lariat includes BlueCruise Equipped with a 90-day trial; on XLT 302A it's an order-time option (521 or 522) and needs console seats. Without 521/522 at order, Ford says the truck will never be BlueCruise capable.
- Mobile Office (50M): fold-out work surface; required with the hybrid; on XLT it switches to console seats.
- Bed Utility (68L): bed storage boxes, tailgate step and work surface, tie-down plates, LED box lighting; standard on King Ranch, Platinum and Raptor.
- Lobo (19S, STX 200A SuperCrew): requires the 5.0L; 22" wheels, 3.73 axle, lowered rear; no Tow/Haul.
- Bedliner and mats: spray-in (96W) and drop-in (96P) bedliners are options; STX/XLT have carpet with mats; the 47R tray liner is optional.
- Extra-charge paint (2027): Birch Sand, Marsh Gray, Neptune Blue, Wild Green, Ruby Red and Star White Tri-Coat (Shelter Green on Raptor).
2026 vs. 2027 F-150: what changed
The 2027 F-150 is not a redesign: Ford's 2027 order guide swaps the 2.7L EcoBoost for a new 3.0L EcoBoost V6, deletes STX 201A, XLT 303A and the 157" Lariat 500A, and makes the 5.0L V8 optional on King Ranch and Platinum.
- New 3.0L EcoBoost V6: 325 hp, 400 lb-ft at 2,250 rpm (2.7L peaked at 3,500 rpm); same 8,400/8,200-lb tow ratings; no Tow/Haul.
- FX4 (55A) now optional on STX 200A; Lariat Chrome Appearance (86C) on 500A/501A; body-color bumpers on XLT 302A.
- Torsen front differential now optional on Tremor; new Tremor 400A and Raptor 800A groups.
- New colors: Birch Sand, Neptune Blue, Wild Green. Dropped: Antimatter Blue, Argon Blue, Avalanche.
- 2027 fuel economy was still TBD in Ford's 2027 guide when we checked.
- Want a 303A-style XLT or a 2.7L? Look at 2026 trucks still in stock. More: 2027 vs. 2026 F-150
Used F-150: generations and years to target
The current 14th-generation F-150 arrived for 2021 with the PowerBoost hybrid and Pro Power Onboard, and Ford refreshed it for 2024, when the 2.7L EcoBoost replaced the 3.3L V6 as the base engine.
| Years | What to know |
|---|---|
| 2015–2020 | 13th generation with aluminum-alloy body (introduced for 2015). |
| 2021–2023 | 14th generation; PowerBoost full hybrid and Pro Power Onboard debut; 3.3L V6 still the base engine. |
| 2024–2026 | Refresh: 2.7L EcoBoost standard (3.3L dropped), Pro Access Tailgate available, BlueCruise availability expanded. |
| 2027 | 3.0L EcoBoost V6 replaces the 2.7L. |
For a used F-150 in northwest Wisconsin, 2021-and-newer trucks are the ones to target if you want the hybrid or Pro Power; 2024-and-newer if you want the 2.7L as the base engine. Recall history by year: used F-150 recalls by year.
Certified used F-150: how CPO changes the decision
Swant Graber Ford is a Ford Blue Advantage dealer: a Gold Certified F-150 (up to 6 years old, under 80,000 miles) adds a 12-month/12,000-mile comprehensive limited warranty and a 7-year/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty.
- Gold Certified: Ford models up to 6 years old and under 80,000 miles, 172-point inspection, 12-month/12,000-mile comprehensive limited warranty, 7-year/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty.
- Blue Certified: vehicles up to 10 years old and under 150,000 miles, 139-point inspection, 90-day/4,000-mile comprehensive limited warranty.
- Swant Graber Ford participates in Ford Blue Advantage's 14-day/1,000-mile Money Back Guarantee; Ford's conditions apply.
- Non-certified used vehicles at Swant Graber include 45 days / 5,000 miles powertrain, on used units 10 model years or newer with under 150,000 miles. See dealer for details.
How it changes the decision: Gold Certified's 7-year/100,000-mile powertrain coverage is longer than the 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty on a new Ford, so a 2–4-year-old Gold unit can be the value play if you don't need the newest changes. Owning a F-150 in northwest Wisconsin
For Barron County winters, start with 4x4 and add an engine block heater (41H), remote start, heated seats and tray-style floor liners; FX4 helps on unplowed roads, logging trails and lake access points.
- 4x4 is available on every cab; Lariat and up use Torque On Demand automatic 4WD.
- Engine block heater (41H) is a factory option; with the 5.0L it requires the front license plate bracket.
- Ice house or wheelhouse: match its loaded weight to the truck's rating, use 4x4 with an e-locking axle (Tow/Haul or FX4), and follow local ice-thickness guidance.
- Gravel and salt: FX4 skid plates protect underneath; plan a spring underbody wash.
- Pro Power Onboard can run gear at camp; the 2.4kW and 7.2kW levels need the PowerBoost hybrid.

The short answer
Ford's 2027 F-150 tech specs list a 3.0L EcoBoost V6 in place of the 2026's 2.7L, with the same 325 hp and 400 lb-ft (peak torque at 2,250 rpm) and 8,400 lb (4x2) / 8,200 lb (4x4) maximum towing. Buy a 2026 now or wait for a 2027?
There is no single right answer, and we'd rather help you compare than push either one:
A 2026 makes sense if
- You need a truck this season (plowing, a camper trip, a job starting)
- A 2026 in stock already has the equipment you want
- You prefer a design that has been on the road for a while
Waiting for a 2027 makes sense if
- The 2027 change matters to how you use the truck (engine, towing tech, payload)
- You can wait until 2027 models are on our lot and priced
- You want to compare window stickers side by side
Either way, ask us for the window sticker on the exact truck and an itemized out-the-door quote (estimate it here).
