The short answer

Answer

Ford's 2026 F-150 owner's manual says to change the oil when the Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor message appears, within two weeks or 500 miles, and never to exceed one year or 10,000 miles between oil changes. If the monitor resets early or stops working, change the oil at six months or 5,000 miles. Tires are rotated at every oil change.

The manual also lists brake fluid every three years, cabin and engine air filters every 20,000 miles, and engine coolant at 10 years or 200,000 miles, then every five years or 100,000 miles. Ford counts short trips under 5–10 miles, temperatures well below average, dusty roads, extended idling and towing as severe driving.

What Ford counts as severe driving

Per the manual: short trips of less than 5–10 miles, temperatures well below or above average, dusty conditions, idling more than recommended, and driving with a heavy load or while towing. If any of those describe your truck (and in a Barron County winter, the cold one usually does), follow the severe-service items in the schedule.
