What the numbers mean day to day
- Range: 13.2 gal × 30 mpg combined is about 395 miles per tank (our arithmetic) — Barron to Eau Claire and back several times on one fill. Expect less in deep cold.
- Cargo: 25.6 cu ft behind the rear seat is more than many small SUVs, and rear legroom is unusually generous for the class.
- Power: 137 hp is adequate for commuting; plan highway passes on two-lanes like US-8 accordingly.
- Size: about 179 inches long, so it parks easily in Rice Lake or Eau Claire.

More power, AWD and up to 63.5 cu ft of cargo: the Equinox. A small SUV with AWD available: the Trailblazer. Compare all three: Trax vs Trailblazer vs Equinox.

Rear legroom, engine and cold-weather mpg
Rear legroom is about 38.7 inches. The 1.2L turbo three-cylinder makes 137 hp / 162 lb-ft through a 6-speed automatic (no CVT), on regular fuel. EPA rates it 28/32/30 mpg; in a northwest Wisconsin January expect 10–20% less on short trips with remote-start warm-ups and winter tires. Chevrolet lists it as not rated to tow and roughly 3,000 lb curb weight.
