What every Tremor gets

  • Off-road tuned suspension with more ride height (about 8.7 in of ground clearance)
  • Torsen limited-slip rear axle
  • All-terrain tires
  • Front and rear underbody deflector plates
  • ActiveX seats with Miko inserts and Tremor logos

That is about $3,000 for real hardware. If your driveway gets plowed and you live on pavement, ST-Line 4WD plus winter tires does the job. If you are on a town road that drifts in, or launch at gravel ramps on area lakes, the Tremor earns it.

Tremor in a Wisconsin winter

Clearance keeps the nose out of plow windrows; the limited-slip rear helps when one wheel is on ice. All-terrain tires are not winter tires — for glare ice, a winter set still stops shorter. Rinse the underbody plates through salt season. More: 4WD modes in winter.

How Explorer Tremor fits Ford’s Tremor family

Ford uses the Tremor name for its off-road-oriented packages across trucks and SUVs. See Ford Tremor explained. The Explorer Tremor is the road-going version: it is about access and traction, not rock crawling.

Tremor seating and snow

Tremor is the one Explorer that seats six only (no bench) and the only one with 8.7 in of clearance standard. Seats & cargo · winter guide.
