Questions answered here
- What does Wisconsin's Move Over law require?
When an emergency vehicle, tow truck, highway maintenance vehicle, utility vehicle or a disabled vehicle with hazards on is stopped on or within 12 feet of the road, move out of the lane next to it if the road has two or more lanes in your direction. If you can't move over safely, slow down.
- How dark can window tint be in Wisconsin?
For aftermarket film, the front side and vent windows must let at least 50% of visible light through (glass and film combined), and the rear side and rear windows at least 35%. Reflective film isn't allowed. Factory-tinted glass installed by the manufacturer is permitted.
- Are studded tires legal in Wisconsin?
Not for most drivers. Wis. Stat. 347.45 limits studded tires to authorized emergency vehicles, school buses, mail-delivery vehicles and out-of-state automobiles passing through for 30 days or less, and only from November 15 through April 1. Tire chains are allowed when conditions require them.
- Can I use my phone while driving in Wisconsin?
Not for texting: Wisconsin bans texting and emailing while driving. Handheld phone use is also banned in road work zones and emergency response areas, where only hands-free or voice-operated use is allowed. Drivers with an instruction permit or probationary license can't use a phone at all while driving, except to report an emergency.
