2026 vs. 2027 Silverado 1500: what changed
The 2027 Silverado 1500 is a new generation: the 5.3L and 6.2L V8s give way to new 5.7L and 6.6L V8s, the 2.7L TurboMax moves to a 10-speed, LT becomes the "Silverado" trim, and every trim gets the 16.3-inch center screen.
- 2.7L TurboMax: 350 hp / 455 lb-ft with a 10-speed (2026 EPA lists an 8-speed).
- Trim lineup goes from nine (2026) to seven; RST and LTZ aren't in the 2027 list.
- Z71 standard on Silverado 4WD.
- Interior camera with Cabin Glance: standard on High Country and ZR2, available on all 2027 trims.
- Max towing rises from 13,300 lbs (2026) to 13,700 lbs (2027), per Chevrolet.

Used Silverado 1500: generations and years to target
Chevrolet's fourth-generation Silverado 1500 ran from 2019 through 2026 and was refreshed for 2022 with a new interior and the first ZR2; the 3.0L Duramax diesel arrived for 2020, so a 2022–2026 truck is the sweet spot for a late-model used buy.
| Years | What to know |
|---|---|
| 2019–2021 | Fourth generation (all-new for 2019); 2.7L turbo four from 2019, 3.0L Duramax from 2020; 4.3L V6 still offered. |
| 2022–2026 | Refresh: redesigned interior with 13.4" touchscreen on LT and up, first ZR2; 5.3L, 6.2L, 2.7L and 3.0L engines. |
| 2027 | Fifth (next) generation. |

Certified used Silverado 1500: how CPO changes the decision
A used Silverado 1500 under 10 model years and 100,000 miles can be CarBravo certified at Swant Graber Motors in Barron, which adds a 12-month/12,000-mile Bumper-to-Bumper Limited Warranty with no deductible after a 126-item inspection.
- CarBravo certified: under 10 model years and 100,000 miles, 126-item inspection, 12-month/12,000-mile Bumper-to-Bumper Limited Warranty, no deductible.
- BravoBudget: 10–15 model years and/or 100,000–150,000 miles, 62-point inspection, 30-day/1,000-mile Powertrain Limited Warranty.
- Swant Graber Motors honors CarBravo's 10-day/500-mile Vehicle Exchange Program: within 10 days or 500 miles of purchase, whichever comes first; it's an exchange, not a refund.
- Non-certified used vehicles at Swant Graber include 45 days / 5,000 miles powertrain, on used units 10 model years or newer with under 150,000 miles. See dealer for details.
How it changes the decision: a certified late-model truck or SUV narrows the gap with new on peace of mind, so compare a CarBravo unit's remaining factory coverage plus the CarBravo warranty against a new vehicle's 3-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper and 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain coverage. The short answer
The 2027 Silverado 1500 replaces the 2026's 5.3L and 6.2L V8s with new 5.7L (402 hp, 428 lb-ft) and 6.6L (481 hp, 501 lb-ft) V8s, puts the 2.7L TurboMax (now 350 hp, 455 lb-ft) on a 10-speed instead of the 2026's 8-speed, keeps the 3.0L Duramax diesel, and adds a 16.3-inch center screen and 12.2-inch driver display on every trim. Pricing starts at $41,395 including destination. Chevrolet expects it on sale at the end of 2026.
Maximum towing tops out at 13,700 lb (5.7L, Double Cab 2WD with the Max Trailering Package) and maximum payload at 2,340 lb (TurboMax Regular Cab 2WD), per Chevrolet. The LT trim is renamed "Silverado," and on Silverado 4WD trucks the Z71 package becomes standard.

Buy a 2026 now or wait for a 2027?
There is no single right answer, and we'd rather help you compare than push either one:
A 2026 makes sense if
- You need a truck this season (plowing, a camper trip, a job starting)
- A 2026 in stock already has the equipment you want
- You prefer a design that has been on the road for a while
Waiting for a 2027 makes sense if
- The 2027 change matters to how you use the truck (engine, towing tech, payload)
- You can wait until 2027 models are on our lot and priced
- You want to compare window stickers side by side
Either way, ask us for the window sticker on the exact truck and an itemized out-the-door quote (estimate it here).

How to choose
Lean toward
- You tow often: compare High Country's trailering tech, or ask about trailering packages on the Silverado trim
- You plow or run forest roads: a 4WD Silverado trim (Z71) or a Trail Boss
- You want comfort at a price: the Silverado trim (formerly LT)
- It's a work truck first: WT or Custom
Consider instead
- You need 15,000-lb-plus trailers or heavy plowing: look at the Silverado HD
- You want the most features for the least money: compare a well-equipped LT with a base High Country
