The short answer
GM's 2026 Silverado 1500 owner's manual says to change the oil when the Engine Oil Life System calls for it (within 600 miles of the CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message) and at least once a year. Tire rotation and the required services are every 7,500 miles.
Other intervals in the manual: cabin air filter every 22,500 miles or 24 months, spark plugs at 60,000 miles on the 2.7L turbo and 97,500 miles on the 5.3L and 6.2L V8s, transfer case fluid at 100,000 miles on 4WD trucks, engine coolant at 150,000 miles or six years, and brake fluid every five years.

What GM counts as severe and extreme
The manual's severe service list covers trucks mainly driven in heavy city traffic in hot weather or in hilly or mountainous terrain, trucks that frequently tow a trailer, and trucks used for taxi, police or delivery. It also flags vehicles used for short trips of 4 miles or less. Extreme service is for vehicles mainly driven off-road in four-wheel drive or used in farming, mining, forestry or snow plowing. For extended idling (an hour at the ice-fishing access or a job site), GM counts one hour of idle as 33 miles.
Salt season: underbody flushing
GM's "Special Application Services" list includes having an underbody flushing service performed (see the manual's Exterior Care section). On salted Wisconsin roads that's worth doing through the winter and in spring. For detailing, see .
