Short answer: Ford offers the 2026 Mustang convertible as EcoBoost, EcoBoost Premium and GT Premium. Base GT, Dark Horse and Dark Horse SC are fastback only. Expect about $4,000-5,500 more for the convertible, a smaller trunk and a little more weight.

Who should buy which
Buy the fastback if the car sees October-to-April miles, you want a Dark Horse, or you carry golf clubs and a cooler. Buy the convertible if it's a summer car for the Chetek chain of lakes and you'll store it December-March. A GT Premium Convertible with the 5.0 and the top down is the classic choice.
Power top and winter care
The power soft top lowers from the cabin. In winter, avoid operating it below freezing, clear snow gently with a soft brush (never scrape), and use touchless washes. For long storage, store with the top up and clean. See winter storage.
Noise and rigidity
Ford lists active noise cancellation on convertibles. Fastbacks are stiffer and quieter at highway speed; that's why the track-focused Dark Horse is coupe only.
Resale
Both hold value well in our market; convertibles sell best in spring, so trade-ins in March-May tend to bring more. Value yours at trade-in.

Is the Mustang offered as a convertible?
Yes. For 2026 Ford offers EcoBoost Convertible, EcoBoost Premium Convertible and GT Premium Convertible. There is no base GT, Dark Horse or Dark Horse SC convertible.
Is there a Mustang Dark Horse convertible?
Not for 2026. Dark Horse, Dark Horse Premium and Dark Horse SC are fastback only per Ford.
How much more is a Mustang convertible?
On 2026 MSRPs, the EcoBoost Premium convertible is about $4,100 more than the fastback and the GT Premium convertible about $5,500 more. Confirm on the window sticker.
How big is the Mustang trunk?
