The short answer
On our Ford stickers (Oct. 11, 2026): the F-150 Tow/Haul Package lists an integrated trailer brake controller ($500 or $1,010 depending on the truck); the Maverick 4K Tow Package is $745 and is what gets a Maverick to Ford's 4,000 lb rating; the Super Duty 5th Wheel Hitch Prep is $750; Snow Plow Prep is $350 and lists a rapid-heat supplemental heater (and on one truck a 410-amp dual alternator); upfitter switches are $250.
For a Barron County plow truck, the $350 plow prep is the cheapest part of the job. Each package adds equipment; the truck's ratings still come from its engine, axle and configuration.

F-150 Tow/Haul Package
Every F-150 tow/haul sticker we read lists the integrated trailer brake controller under it. The price difference ($500 vs. $1,010) follows the truck's trim and equipment group, so compare the exact sticker. Ford's F-150 maximum tow rating (13,500 lb, properly equipped) depends on engine, axle and configuration, not this package alone.
Maverick 4K Tow Package
Ford lists 4,000 lb of maximum towing for the Maverick with the 4K Tow Package. On our five Maverick stickers that list it, it's $745 and the sticker itemizes a conventional spare tire. If you plan to tow a small camper or boat, it's the package that matters; see 3,500–5,000 lb towing.
Super Duty: fifth-wheel prep, plow prep and upfitter switches
The 5th Wheel Hitch Prep ($750) readies the bed for a fifth-wheel or gooseneck hitch, bought separately. Snow Plow Prep ($350) is Ford's plow-ready package; ask the plow dealer which plow and mount your configuration accepts. Upfitter switches ($250) give you dash switches pre-wired for accessories such as lights, a spreader or a plow. Ford Super Duty max ratings: up to 8,000 lb gas payload (2026, 6.8L gas V8, Ford 2026 Super Duty Towing Guide) and up to 40,000 lb gooseneck with the 6.7L High Output Power Stroke and 535 package.

- You never tow (skip tow packages)
